G.I. research news

MIRA welcomes our summer students!

We would like to give a warm welcome to Emma and Anu, who have joined Dr. Johan Van Limbergen this summer to learn about the microbiome and its role in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. We are excited to have them aboard.

Emma Finlayson-Trick, BScH

Emma recently graduated Dalhousie University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree with First-Class Honours in Microbiology and Immunology. Over the summer, Emma will begin working in the lab of Dr. Johan Van Limbergen to design and execute experiments that will form the basis of her master’s project. In her spare time, Emma mentors an undergraduate competitive synthetic biology team that use microbes to tackle local and global problems.

Anu Sree Nath, BSc Candidate

Anu is a third year student studying Microbiology and Immunology at Dalhousie University. Anu is completing her summer project with Dr. Johan Van Limbergen, through which she aims to understand the role of gut microbiomes in the inflammatory response observed in IBD. She is excited to be gaining more research experience in this field.
